University Studies, Internships and Observerships at the Neurosurgical Department

We offer clinical internship and observership opportunities for external applicants.

Clinical Internships

Clinical internships are offered throughout the year, but are unpaid and the department is unable to offer any support on Visa regulations, accommodation and travel expenses.

Students interested in an internship must provide proof of up-to-date vaccinations and hand in a certificate of general health.

If you are intersted in applying for an internship or observership, please send your CV, your qualifications and a cover letter (one PDF) and plan at least 12 months ahead.

The following documents are required in an application for clinical internships:

  • A curriculum vitae
  • A cover letter
  • A copy of the current enrollment documents, in English or German
  • Copy of your vaccination card, including mumps, measles, rubella and COVID, in English, German or a certified translation of your immunization documents (please note that regarding COVID a vaccination with an EU certified vaccine is necessary. For more information on the matter check the information provided by the EU on currently certified vaccines).
  • Visa for non-EU residents

 

Observerships

We also offer observership possibilites for medical specialists. In case you should be interested in applying for an observership please contact gaeste-nch(at)charite.de.

Please note that applications for obserships have be planned at least 4 - 6 months in advance and capacities are limited.

Observerships are unpaid and the department is unable to offer any support on Visa regulations, accommodation and travel expenses.

The following documents are required in an application for clinical observerships:

  • A curriculum vitae
  • A cover letter
  • A copy of the current enrollment documents, in English or German

  • Proof of medical qualifications

Please note, that we are able to offer limited placements due to a high demand and clinical internships during the German semester breaks should be planned at least a year in advance.

Please be advised that we only are able to place students with a high proficiency in English (C1/C2) and some knowledge of German (at least A2/B1).
